Zachary A. Borman, MD

Overview

A native of the DC area, Zachary Borman attended The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine. He then left the region to continue his training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA and followed up with a gastroenterology fellowship at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY. While in New York City he was a frontline COVID-19 physician during the peak of the pandemic.

Dr. Borman was inspired to become a physician while he was still in high school and he discovered that a close family member had Crohn’s disease. Witnessing the illness’ impact on his relative’s daily life, as well as the journey to diagnosis and treatment, spurred him toward a career in medicine. Care of patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (IBD) remains an area of special interest for Dr. Borman, and he holds extensive experience gained from treating such patients during his time at The Mount Sinai Hospital. His other areas of special interest include treating acid reflux, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, bleeding and colon polyps.

Today, Dr. Borman describes his view on health care as a patient-centric approach. His desire is to keep patients well-informed about their health issues as he works with them, and their other providers, to help them achieve optimal health. He also has a passion for developing long-term therapeutic relationships with his patients to help them persevere in meeting their goals. Dr. Borman’s hobbies include vegetable gardening, sailing, and traveling internationally.
